The Story
THE COMMON WEALTH is an eight-part British romantic comedy-drama created and written by NORTHBOUGH FILMS very own, Daniel Widger, exploring love, class, family and the unexpected discovery that the things which divide us are often far smaller than the world would have us believe.
When a chance dating app match brings together David, a grounded, single father from the Kent coast, and Sara, an ambitious professional from one of Windsor's most affluent families, their connection is immediate. What begins as an effortless romance soon becomes a journey that challenges not only their own perceptions of life, but those of everyone around them.
As two families from opposite ends of British society are drawn into each other's worlds, long-held assumptions are questioned, loyalties are tested and old prejudices begin to unravel. Between Whitstable's warmth and Windsor's privilege, David and Sara discover that love isn't defined by where you come from, what you earn or the expectations placed upon you, but by the courage to choose one another when every difference says you shouldn't.
Yet as their relationship begins to flourish, the past refuses to stay behind them. Sara's calculating former partner is determined to reclaim the life he believes is still his, forcing David and Sara to confront whether a love found in the most unexpected place can survive the pressures of two worlds pulling in opposite directions.
